Wisconsin Golf Courses |
Blackwolf Run, offers an award-winning 36 holes of championship
golf in Kohler, Wisconsin. Its two 18-hole courses have been skillfully carved out of the natural environment
and are designed for golfers who appreciate the game's great traditions. Both courses at Blackwolf
Run, the River Course and the Meadow Valleys Course, were designed by renowned course
architect Pete Dye and given names to reflect the natural features of the terrain. Scores of pot bunkers
and water areas shored with railroad ties complement the Scottish influences in Dye's work. Vast, undulating
greens further define Dye's vision for Blackwolf Run. Hybrid grasses delineate various sections
of the course.
Blackwolf Run, opened for play in June 1988 and was named that year "Best New Public Course
". It has continued to accumulate awards and honors including regular ranking on
the list of "America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses" by
Golf Digest and the "Top 100 You Can Play" by GOLF Magazine.

Whistling Straits-host of the 2004 PGA Championship, 2007
U.S. Senior Open, 2010 PGA Championship, 2015 PGA Championship and 2020 Ryder Cup is an extraordinary
combination of legendary design by Pete Dye and visionary inspiration of Herbert V. Kohler, Jr.
Beginning with a 560-acre parcel of flat land, Dye sculpted a bit of Ireland and a touch of Scotland
out of the Wisconsin coastline. If you ask Pete Dye, he'll tell you that building Whistling Straits
was a "once in a lifetime thing"-an impressive claim for one considered the foremost golf course
designer of our time.
Whistling Straits golf course, which opened in 1998, offers two courses of dynamic contrast. Open,
rugged and windswept terrain defines the Straits Course sculpted along two miles of Lake Michigan
shoreline. Just inland, interspersed by four meandering streams, the grassland-and-dunes aspect of the Irish
Course is a deceivingly tranquil landscape.
At the 2004 PGA Championship, Darren Clark set a new course record on the Straits Course
by shooting a 7 under 65. The very next day, Miguel Angel Jimenez tied that course record by shooting
a 65 of his own. Of course, no one was happier than Vijay Singh, after winning his 3rd career major
by defeating Justin Leonard and Chris DiMarco in a 3-hole playoff.
With more than a hint of the Emerald Isle in its style and personality, the Irish Course at Whistling
Straits possesses all the character of a centuries' old legend. Whistling Straits also appears on the
coveted list of "America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses"

The Irish Course completes 72 holes of the most
diverse golf experience in the world. The course is another Pete Dye masterpiece and a perfect companion
to the adjacent, stunning Straits Course. Tranquil grasslands. Soaring dunes. Cavernous bunkers.
And, to ensure that golfers will remember the Irish Course, Dye claims he has used "every trick
I've ever learned" in routing and sculpting the hole dynamics. Capitalizing on the endlessly
fickle personality of nearby Lake Michigan, the Irish Course offers intriguing prospects
at every turn.
Carry the creek or lay up short from the tee on #9. Steer clear of the 40-foot bunkers on the right or fall
victim to the wetlands on the left of the "blind" par three at #13. The Irish Course has ten
bridges over four streams that meander through the property and offers panoramic views of Lake Michigan
from several holes. Every hole will inspire. Every stroke will challenge.
The current course record on the Irish course is a 72, set by Charlie Brown during a Wisconsin PGA Stroke
Play Event in 2002.
